the shamey jays

The Shamey Jays are a San Diego treasure. Born out of a swirling cloud of garage rock, 60s pop rock, punk, roots and "alt-alt," The Shamey Jays appear like rock bodhisattvas to kick out the jams to all who seek to drink the quenching nectar of jangly guitar and chunky guitar riffs, layered on a bed of tight rhythm and garnished with a crisp sprig of vocal harmonies.

Founded by garage rock icon Billy Gruff, the band is rounded out by veteran San Diego scenesters Jerry Rig, Matt Silvia and Spud Davenport. All four guys are seasoned pros with a long history of gigging in various genres and scenes in San Diego and across the U.S. of A.

Wildly eclectic and decidedly original; in their music one can hear the echoes of MC5, Stones, The Clash, Faces, The Who, The Dictators and Elvis Costello. Give their tunes a spin and don't miss the chance to catch a Shamey Jays show near you.
